Karin Elisabeth Dreijer Andersson is the lead vocalist of electronic music duo The Knife, formed with her brother Olof Dreijer. Andersson was previously the vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock band Honey Is Cool. Andersson released her debut solo album under the name Fever Ray in 2009. Her vocal style is notable for both shrill and deep, distorted tones combined with her distinctive accent and the use of pitch-shifting, while her image as a performer tends to include the wearing of masks and other theatrical elements.

Music video of “Shadows” by Wagon Christ (aka Luke Vibert) Luke Vibert is a British recording artist and producer known for his work in many subgenres of electronic music. He began his musical career as a member of the Hate Brothers, only later branching out into his own compositions. Vibert has recorded under several different aliases, most notably Plug and Wagon Christ.

“It was under the alias of Wagon Christ (along with other equally vital monikers like Plug, Vibert & Simmonds, and later more simply in his own name) that Vibert helped to redefine the rules of electronic music in the UK in the early to mid ’90s - alongside a bunch of reprehensible mates that included Richard D. James (a.k.a. Aphex Twin), Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher), Mike Paradinas (µ-Ziq), Chris Jeffs (Cylob), and the labels Rephlex and Warp,” assessed journalist Andrez Bergen in an article that appeared in Japan’s Daily Yomiuri newspaper in 2003.

“Together they assimilated such diverse elements as hip hop beats and drum & bass into the more eccentric take on electronica they tweaked, and kick-started a virtual insurrection in sound around the world.”

Director: Fizzy Eye
Production Company: Nexus Productions
Producer: Julia Parfitt
2D & 3D Animation: Antoine Bourell
3D Modelling: Mattias Bjurstom
Digital ink & paint: Kwok Fung Lam
Commissioner: Luke Vibert and Vez @ Ninja Tune

Video for the song Sleepyhead by Passion Pit. Boston’s Passion Pit is the brainchild of Michael Angelakos with live band consisting of ian hultquist(synths), ayad al adhamy(synths, samplers), jeff apruzzese(bass, synths), nate donmoyer (drums). Michael is a songwriter’s songwriter drawing from a variety of influences, from the classic pop of Randy Newman to the synth work of Giorgio Moroder.

The Chunk of Change EP was originally put together as a (belated) Valentine’s Day present to Angelakos’ girlfriend which then prompted him to give it out to friends and fellow students at Emerson College. Angelakos wrote and recorded the entire record by himself and it only hints at what is to come from this extremely talented perfectionist. The production of the recording - brief, sporadic, and explosive - worked towards the development of Angelakos’ signature euphoric and blissfully melancholic sound. Frenchkiss Records will reissue the ep this fall with the addition of two bonus tracks “Better Things” and “Sleepyhead” that are already catching the online world on fire. All of this is in preparation for Passion Pit’s debut full length coming out in early 2009.

Playing as a five piece live, Passion Pit has already blown away audiences opening up for Death Cab For Cutie, Girl Talk, These New Puritans and more. Also winning the WFNX/Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll as the Best New Local Act of 2008, Passion Pit hopes to bring their soulful dance explosion to your town this fall.

Sweet Smoke by Mr. Scruff. His DJ name was inspired by his scruffy facial hair, as well as his trademark loose-lined drawing style. He has been DJing since 1994, at first in and around Manchester then nationwide. He is known for DJing in marathon sets (often exceeding six hours), his eclectic musical taste, his love of a “nice cup of tea” and the quirky home-produced visuals and animations associated with his music. In an interview he said: “It’s about putting a lot of effort in and paying attention to detail. I get annoyed if I don’t take risks. I’m very hard on myself.” [1]

His musical style, influenced by a broad range of artists like Animal Collective and Os Mutantes,[1] relies heavily on the use of sampling and incorporates elements of Afrobeat, dub, Tropicália and rock and roll[2] as Díaz-Reixa achieves what he’s described as a kind of “space-age exotica”.[3] He utilizes a Roland SP-404. He is also known as El Guincho de Tortilla.[4] He is touring Australia in February as part of the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

Digitalism has remixed tracks for The Presets, Tom Vek, The Futureheads, Daft Punk, Tiga, Klaxons, White Stripes, Monk, Depeche Mode, Cut Copy and many others, including a re-edit of “Fire in Cairo” by The Cure (entitled “Digitalism in Cairo”).

Múm (pronounced [muːm], “moom”) are an experimental Icelandic musical group whose music is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. Despite the departure of some of its members múm has remained together as a collective of musicians. Their fourth album, recorded during 2006, was released on 24th of September, 2007, entitled Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy. On August 27, 2008, múm announced on their official website that “múm is quietly but surely [working on] their new album. No release date has been etched in stone, but every day will bring it closer.” múm also released several pictures of themselves during the recording process on their My Space page. Rhubarbidoo is on Múm’s latest LP “Go Go Smear The Posion Ivy” on Fatcat Records.

Directors:
Overture was born of Jason Malcolm Brown and Aya Yamasaki Brown in the final days of August, 2004. A focal point where their creative intertwined, Aya and Jason created an opera house where all the peoples of their worlds could perform and be entertained. As the opening to an opera, Overture stands to introduce and describe these worlds through their work, resting mainly in animation and improvised illustration.
